Time Out

How many times in a day is too many times to put a child in time out? Just curious.

I hope you really want an answer. Because surely you knew I would have an opinion on this, right?!

Supernanny would probably say, none, just keep being consistent with not interacting with them at all during the time out and keeping a timer so that you are sure they are in there long enough. He is close enough to three that you might go ahead and bump it up to three minutes.

I personally think it depends on what the time outs are for...if there are multiple time outs for the same offense, you need a new plan for correcting that particular behavior. If they are all for different things, there might be an underlying issue that needs to be resolved...tired, hungry, teething, bored, etc. And sometimes that underlying issue is my mood!

Just my two cents! :) Give that sweet little thing a hug from Aunt Sumer!

Just this week Nathan has decided that he will listen to us and do what we tell him to do when he has finished with what he is doing. More than once in the past 3 days I have told him to come to me so I could put his clothes on and he has given me a look and then gone right back to playing.

The boy had decided that he is in charge instead of us and it is about to be time to start some beatings up in our house. (well, maybe not, but something new has to happen soon)
