Noah 18 Months Update

Took Noah to the doctor Thursday and he cried the minute we walked in the door. He recognized the place and the people and knew what we were there for. Maybe it won't be so bad when we are done getting shots. He had to have 3 immunizations and a flu shot this time. Poor guy. Although with the shots, they cry for less than a minute and then its done. He weighs 24 1/2 lbs and I didn't catch his length. He was screaming because he had to lay on the table for nurse Melissa to measure him. Shane and I agreed today he is starting to look more like a little boy than a baby. He is attempting to walk more and can definitely take a few steps at a time. He still prefers to crawl though and is still not crawling with his left hand since his fall from the slide last Friday. Dr. Glaze suggested Motrin several times a day to alleviate any pain and see if he will begin to use it. If not he will order more xrays next week. He has a mouth full of teeth. He pretty much eats fruits and breads. He will eat fish sticks and chicken nuggets and chicken fries but those are his only proteins right now. Still on soy milk and we are seeing the same dairy allergies Nathan has. His word list is expanding rapidly, he will try to repeat many of the words we say, unless of course, we ask him. He is our first to go to bed at night and usually the first to rise in the mornings. He loves his big brother and grins from ear to ear saying "Naa Naa" anytime Nathan is near. I hope as they grow older they keep that same excitement and love for each other!

Chuck E Cheese

Since today was the last day before back to school Nathan and I went to meet some friends at Chuck E. Cheese. The one in Columbus has lots of rides and is clean and was not crowded at all. Nathan had lots of fun with Abby and Kyndal. I think his favorite things were skee ball, air hockey and counting his tickets. Every so often we had to stop and count his tickets. I had lots of fun just being with Nathan. One on one times with them are special.

18 Months + 1 Day

At the Hockey Game

Nathan likes to watch Hockey, and I am a sucker for any live sporting event and I also jump at any opportunity to hang out with Nathan so this Saturday we went to watch the Columbus Cottonmouth’s play hockey. It was rainy and muggy outside and Nathan didn’t want to wear his jacket so I let him leave it in the car. That wasn’t such a bright idea. It was very cold in the arena and eventually I had to give Nathan the white shirt I was wearing under my t-shirt.

Nathan didn’t want to wear it at first because “It will look silly”. I was shocked. That was the first time I have ever heard him be worried about his appearance, but we tucked the extra into his pants and rolled up the sleeves and in the end he didn’t end up looking too silly.

Watching the Parade

On New Year’s Day this year the family settled in on the bed to watch the Rose Bowl Parade. At one point the boys were sitting with a pillow across both their laps. It was a perfect picture, but of course the camera in the other room means that I missed the opportunity. These are still pretty cute too though.

A Happy New Year

Today is New Year's Day. The weather was rainy so we stayed in today. We all piled up on the bed and watched some of the Rose Bowl parade. We played card games and napped and baked brownies. Shane and Nathan did go out tonight to the Columbus hockey game, but Noah and I stayed here. I realized when I got ready to give Noah a bath tonight he still had his Mickey Mouse pj top on from last night. He's been in that and a diaper all day. Noah usually goes to bed with a little fuss but pretty much wants to lay down and go to sleep in his own bed by himself. Tonight after his bath we read books and I put him to bed. He screamed loud for about 10 minutes. Worried he might be hurting from his fall yesterday I went in to check on him and he was standing up screaming and held his arms out. So I picked him up and he pointed to his pacifier and blanket and I got them both. Then I sat in the rocking chair and rocked him and he went to sleep on my chest. A special moment for me because he was not one to be rocked even as an infant. (Tomorrow I may be griping again) but today I am thankful for another day, another year, for the sweet days like this with the family God has given me.
